Kite surfer injured after flying into powerlines

A CareFlight helicopter landed at Lemon Grove Park and transported the man to hospital

A kite surfer is lucky to be alive after being blown into powerlines in strong winds at Ettalong Beach on Monday, May 19.

The man aged in his 50s sustained laceration injuries after his kite was caught in the powerlines and he dropped to the road.

Emergency services were called to the incident at about 11am and the man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

A Careflight helicopter landed at Lemon Grove Park just after noon and transported the man to Royal North Shore Hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries.
