The Older Women’s Network Deepwater’s Autumn/Winter fashion parade held on May 17 proved a great hit with the 90 visitors who attended the event at Ettalong 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre at Ettalong Beach.
It was held in conjunction with Sarongs Ladies Fashions and Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch took time out from her birthday celebrations to acknowledge OWN Deepwater’s commitment to the Peninsula community.
Tesch was happy to encourage the crowd to have a great day and be generous to the raffle ticket sellers Rickie Olsen and Karen Smith and stayed for the first set of the Madeline Stephenson Tap Dance Troupe before she was off back to her birthday party.
The parade’s five models were all members of OWN Deepwater – Leonie Franke, Lisa Corbett, Shirley Berdon, Mary Clark and Fay Maitland.
The clothes proved popular with the crowd for their elegance, colour and flattering cut.
There were some fabulous raffle prizes including the first prize of a red tiger’s eye and banded agate necklace with sterling silver clasps donated by Seaspray Jewelry, an artistic framed original signed tile, a Marrakesh queen bed quilt cover set, a luxury bathroom pack and an oil burner, perfumed candle and stationary set.
OWN Deepwater will have raised more than $2,200 by May 31 which will be distributed to three local food pantries: Mary Mac’s Place, Woy Woy Community Food Pantry, and Community SOS.
The group will also be benefitting Hope & Meals, Dinner at 6 and Capes4Kids.
