Mental Health Day

More than 10 people in 100 in the region experience mental health problems

Uniting NSW.ACT Mental Health Services on the Central Coast will host a Mental Health Day on Tuesday, October 10 at Wyong to mark October being Mental Health Month.

Uniting Head of Mental Health Services Chantal Nagib said building a resilient and mentally well community relies on all of us working together.

“This is why Uniting feels it is so important for our community to know we are here to help and no one needs to go through the mental health struggles alone,” she said.

“Mental illness does not discriminate so collectively we need to work together to strengthen our communities and support those most vulnerable.

“Together, we can make a difference, creating stronger communities that support people‘s well-being and resilience.

“Mental health month reminds us of the importance of looking after our mental health and well-being and also provides us the opportunity to understand the importance of good mental health in our everyday lives and encourages help seeking behaviours when needed.”

Nagib said Uniting encouraged people to think about ways they can connect with others around them.

At the Mental Health Day there will be stalls with plenty of information about headspace, local area mental health services, One Door, Like Mind psychology, services and family and your services.

It will be held in the Chapman building in Hely St, Wyong, from 10am-2pm on Tuesday, October 10.
