Council’s interest charges totally unfair

Due to my work-related movement and residential address changes, I requested Central Coast Council send notices (regarding my investment property at Wyoming) to my email and this was confirmed by Council on 10/03/2020.

I received my rate notices to that email address and payment is up to date.

I have not received my water notices to my email address or not even to my online account from January 2022.

I mistakenly thought water notices were paid by my real estate agent.

I recently received a large bill for all outstanding water notices and interest charges.

I asked the Council to send all previous notices and details of water usage and interest charges to my tenant (and also I needed to see the details of charges).

Also, I asked Council to waive my interest charges as it is Council’s fault for not sending my water notices to my preferred communication which is email.

Council (has) refused to waive my interest charges and asked me to pay money to get my old notices and details of charges.

This is ransom behaviour.

During this investigation, the Council never considered that it failed to send water notices to my email as advised on 10/03/2020.

I have made all the payments to date to avoid further interest charges.

I shouldn’t be charged for all the periods where the Council failed to send notices to (my) preferred and agreed communication (channel).

  1. We don’t have a Council, we have an administrator who at times behaves akin to a dictator.
    Good luck with your plight
