We need vandal-proof street signs

Readers' forum letters

In reply to Unnecessary street signs by Andrew McDonald (CCN 412), I do not know what the situation is in other parts of the Central Coast, but on the Peninsula Council staff only install new street name signs when the originals have been knocked off their poles by vandals.

Unfortunately this occurs quite often, no doubt frustrating Council staff.

I have reported about 20 cases a year to Council over the past few years.

Yes, it must cost Council a lot of money, so I have suggested they consider a more vandal-proof type of sign.

Hopefully they are considering this.

If Andrew has not already done so, I recommend that he ask Council what their exact policy is.
