Stage Door Music Series returns to Art House

Audiences enjoy the music from tables set up on the stage

The Art House at Wyong is set to reboot its popular and unique Stage Door Music Series to kick off the new year.

The concept originated in October 2020 as a safe way to return to the theatre and to give local artists a chance to perform after the first seven-month lockdown.

The experience sold out with audiences enjoying the chance to see theatre from the “other side”.

The fun starts with entry along a red carpet through the Stage Door into a pop-up bar in the backstage scene dock.

The theatre is then flipped on its head as cabaret-style private tables are arranged on the Art House stage looking out over the empty auditorium.

Audiences enjoy SMS bar service, cheese and antipasto platters and quality musical entertainment.

This year Central Coast local and musical theatre powerhouse Andrew Worboys (Rent, American Psycho, Merrily We Roll Along) and his band The Isolationists will be joined by Bek Jensen (who has toured with the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel and The Sleepy Jackson), followed by Stellar Perry (from The Voice and Bell Shakespeare’s The Lovers at the Sydney Opera House) on vocals.

A spokesperson said the Stage Door Series is not just a show but an experience, as part of the theatre’s mission to bring unique and memorable arts events to the coast.

The Stage Door Music Series will take place at 8pm on Friday, January 13 and Saturday, January 14.
