Grants and certificates to salute our heroes

Member for Robertson, Gordon Reid, with Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Matt Keogh

Member for Robertson, Gordon Reid, is encouraging organisations and community groups on the Central Coast to apply for the latest round of Saluting Their Service grants.

Reid said the grants were an important opportunity for groups to gain support for activities and initiatives that help commemorate Australia’s service history.

“Our Central Coast region has a strong tradition of service and I encourage local groups who may be considering an Australian military history project to apply for a Saluting Their Service grant,” he said.

“By investing in these commemorative projects, we hope to share with younger generations the stories of Australian service and sacrifice, ensuring that their legacy will be remembered.”

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Matt Keogh, said the grants would help groups preserve and share Australian wartime and military history.

“Saluting Their Service grants … recognise the sacrifice of those who have served our nation during wars, conflicts and peace operations,” Keogh said.

“Funding is available to support a wide range of projects, including new memorials, restoration of existing memorials, exhibitions, digital projects such as podcasts and documentaries, and publications.

“I’ve had some amazing memorials established in my community through this program and I’m very proud to continue this important program.

“Saluting Their Service is open all year with applications available in three batches, meaning organisations can apply at any time during the year.

“This is also an excellent opportunity to apply for funding for projects marking the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War, which will be commemorated throughout 2023.”

Community Grants of up to $10,000 are available for community-based commemorative projects and activities, while Major Grants of up to $150,000 are available for initiatives that are significant from a national, state, territory or regional perspective.

Applications for the current batch close on October 11.

The Saluting Their Service Commemorative Program is also calling on applications from Australians who have served in conflicts or peace operations, or from their families on behalf of an eligible family member, to apply for Certificates of Appreciation (COA).

Reid urged eligible Coast residents to apply for recognition.

“I thank all our veterans and military families in Robertson, who have served our nation”. he said.

“I would encourage any former military personnel, or their families on behalf of an eligible family member in Robertson, to apply for a Certificate of Appreciation if they have been involved in conflicts or peace operations.

“It is important that our nation never forgets the sacrifices made by those who served our country and helped ensure peace around the world.

“These certificates are a symbol of gratitude to Australians who have served in conflict or peace operations.”

Reid will host a special morning tea where Certificates of Appreciation will be presented to applicants, their partners, and families.
