Danckert named rugby player of the year

Adam Danckert of Terrigal Rugby Club has been named Player of the Year at the 2022 Central Coast Rugby awards.

As well as picking up the Syd Noble Medal as Player of the Year, Danckert was also named Highest Point Scorer, Rep Player of the Year and Referees Player of the Year.

Executive Officer of Central Coast Rugby Union, Kate Thomson, received the Terry Woodward Award for Services to Rugby in recognition of the huge amount of work she does for the code.

And the award named in her honour – the Kate Thomson Medal for Women’s Player of the Year – went to Sharni Waters of Avoca Beach.

Avoca Beach was also named Club of the Year, with Ryan Hazel of Warnervale being named the Peter Armstrong Club Person of the Year.

Michael Farrelly and Jonathan Bell of Terrigal took out the Coach of the Year award, with Terrigal taking the Club Championship award.

Highest Point Scorer in the Women’s 10’s was Sian George of Terrigal and Aaron Crofts was named Referee of the Year.

Seniors Best Back of the Year was Jake Hubbard and Best Forward of the Year was Rob Peden.

Awards for the Under 19’s were: Best and Fairest, Harry McWilliam; Best Back of the Year, Jimmy O’Connor; and Best Forward of the Year, Will Shipton.

Women 15’s award winners were: Rep Player of the Year, Hannah Stewart; Players’ Player, Emily Lufe; and Coaches’ Award, Canditah Brown
