John Asquith says Coast’s governance a major concern

John Asquith OAM, Chairman of the Community Environment Network (CEN), discusses his 50 years in the conservation movement in the latest Central Coast Newspapers Video News.

“Being a bushwalker, why wouldn’t you fall in love with Australia’s natural environment?” Asquith said. According to Asquith, CEN “involves itself in many things but our mission is to promote sustainability and oppose threats to it”. He identifi ed governance and good planning as key issues confronting the Central Coast.

“Our remit is very broad being from marine environments through to land and water but the thing that is really apparent is the need for good planning. “We see too much desire to take shortcuts and the Central Coast has suffered from that for decades and it is certainly still suffering from it.”
