Thursday Oct 14, 2021: Central Coast Local Health District has advised the community this morning that an area within Gosford Hospital’s Main Entry – the lounge area adjacent to the patient enquiries desk – has been identified as a casual contact exposure site.
The community is advised that the hospital remains open and there is no impact on patient care.
Anyone who sat in the lounge area or transited through this area on Friday 8 October between 11.30am and 1.30pm is a casual contact who must get tested, even if you are vaccinated and feel well. visit COVID-19 Testing Centres Central Coast or contact your GP.
As the date of exposure is now more than six days ago casual contacts do not need to isolate until a negative result is received, if they feel well. However, they should monitor for symptoms and get tested if they develop fever, cough, sore throat, or loss of smell or taste.
High risk employees
Anyone who works in a high risk setting should speak to their manager before returning to work. High risk settings include:
- Healthcare
- Aged care
- Disability care
- Early childhood
- Primary school
- Correctional facilities
All necessary risk assessments and protocols for a healthcare facility exposure have been carried out including deep cleaning of the area, and there is no further risk to staff or patients.
Anyone who was in this Main Entry area outside the specified times does NOT need to get tested but should remain vigilant for symptoms and get tested if any appear, no matter how mild.

Why is the Central Coast again included as part of Greater Sydney and unable to travel regionally while Newcastle and the Hunter are allowed to?
