CC Health confirm COVID transfers and suspending women’s health screening

Women's public health screening

Gosford Hospital is currently caring for a number of COVID patients, some of whom have been transferred from out of area as part of NSW Health’s networked hospital system.

This system ensures patients can be transferred or redirected to other hospitals where necessary, including private hospitals.

Central Coast Local Health District has well-developed workforce surge and demand management plans in place to ensure we have capacity to safely care for COVID-19 patients who need to be hospitalised.

Strict plans and protocols are in place for staff who care for patients with COVID-19, including treating them in separate areas with separate staff where possible to minimise the risk of transmission.

After temporarily suspending all screening services across NSW on 19 August due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, BreastScreen NSW is now working with services at each Local Health District to resume screening as soon as local conditions allow.

BreastScreen NSW will keep women updated as services reopen and women who had their bookings cancelled or were due for their mammogram during the suspension will be contacted to book as a priority.

BreastScreen NSW continues to urge any women experiencing breast symptoms to see their regular doctor without delay to get a referral for diagnostic testing, which continues to be the nationally recommended pathway for symptomatic women.
