Football has become the Coast’s second winter sport to announce big changes to its format this season following the Coronavirus outbreak.
On March 17, Central Coast Football CEO, Darren Sprod, confirmed the 2020 season being pushed back until April 14, with that postponement to include an immediate suspension on all football activities.
“Central Coast Football (CCF) take the health and safety of football participants, including players, coaches, officials, staff and volunteers across all levels of the game very seriously,” Sprod said.
“As you are no doubt aware, COVID-19 is a quickly evolving global situation.
“After discussion with our clubs, Football NSW and our Board, CCF has made the decision to suspend all football activity until April 14, including games, training, meetings, courses and other football related events.
“We currently have a plan to start the season with some grades on April 26 and the remainder on the first weekend of May.
“Should this change, we will notify stakeholders,” Sprod said.
Sprod also announced that Pluim Park would henceforth be closed to the public until April 14.
“CCF will use this shutdown period to gather further information to assist our stakeholders in addressing issues related to participating in grassroots sport and minimizing risks when football recommences.
“CCF will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates to the football community as they come to hand,” Sprod said.
