In the wake of this week’s Terrigal vigil for 19-year-old Audrey Griffin, the community will come together this Sunday, April 27, for a peaceful march to stand against violence in all its forms.

The event will start at midday from Gosford Waterfront Park (click for map), with participants marching for 200 metres along the waterfront to Graham Park and back along a family-friendly, accessible route, with speakers, chants, and music along the way.

Organisers say the event is more than a march; it is a call for action and a show of solidarity, giving residents a chance to raise their voices and be heard.

CCN spoke to co-organiser Lauren Gumbs who said: “Whether you’ve been personally affected or simply want to see real change, everyone is welcome.

“Bring your signs, your voices and your support.

“Let’s stand up for those who no longer can, and make sure those in power hear us loud and clear.”

One of the speakers, Bri Harvey, is the local convenor of the national campaign organisation What Were You Wearing.

“The organisation was created in 2021 to to support victim-survivors every day,” Harvey said.

“We are helping build a nationwide movement to make real change.”

The march in Gosford aims to send a clear message to everybody including political leaders:

violence against any member of the community is violence against us all.

People are being urged to support the change.org petition which started prior to this week’s vigil for Audrey at Terrigal.
