Thursday on Woy Woy station; the announcement is “the next train will be four cars only for today only”.
So we all struggle to find a seat.
The bigger problem is that the new Mariyung trains, which have finally arrived, are being run as eight-car sets instead of the planned 10 cars.
Eight-car Mariyung trains only have 75% capacity of the older fleet.
Why is the NSW government reducing this public transport service by 25%?
At the same time the NSW Government is forcing up our population through high rise at Woy Woy, Gosford, Erina and Wyong.
And this is without any commitment to increase our services.
Where is the planning for schools and additional health services?
We already have to travel to North Sydney for “specialist” health; where is the money to support this new population bomb?
The Mariyung “service” seems to be a sign that the NSW Government is forcing the Central Coast to travel backwards.

I’m a pensioner I travel down to Sydney at least once a fortnight the problem is all the people travelling to mascot airport have no were to put their bags so they put them on the seats leaving less seating for people I have hat to stand up from Woy Woy I might get a seat at Strathfield but the next stop is Central. there should be a rule that you can’t put big suit cases on the seats so people can getting a seat and then you get people who sit in the isle seats so they don’t want people to sit next to them that’s a problem to and it’s the same on buses sometimes
when i was commuting to sydney for work from woy woy, i used to drive to gosford park at the parking lot next or even some days when there were no parking spaces left ar gosford, id drive to narara or Niagara stations and catch the train from there , so i could get a seat, heaps of commuters board the train at gosford do the closer you get to wyong ,the more seating.
Annoying but necessary unless you like standing for an hour and a half before work
same old story only the day changes
Bought by the previous LNP government.
Did someone say Sydney Trains run by current government.
The libs goofed it by not buying the trains from local company Goninans at broadmeadow. For 30 years the government bought trains from them. The libs thought they’d save $$ but it’s cost them and us heaps more. Same as the dud ferries etc. Buy Australian next time and always keep all us Aussies in a job
