The Older Women’s Network (OWN), Deepwater Woy Woy has raised more than $2,500 for local food pantries through its Easter raffle.

The group, which advocates for the rights, dignity and wellbeing of older women in the community thanked Deepwater Plaza for allowing members to sell tickets in the lead-up to Easter.

The raffle was drawn by Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch, with prized delivered to winners the same day.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Chocolate Factory who provided a beautiful basket of exquisite Easter eggs and our members who donated chocolates and various gifts to make up the two huge first and second Easter basket prizes,” a spokesperson said.

Money raised over the two day raffle will be used to buy food for Mary Mac’s, SDA Food Pantry and Community SOS Food Pantry throughout the year.

The Deepwater Branch of OWN now has more than 40 members who enjoy socials and meetings, often with a guest speaker.

Its next function will be an Autumn/Winter Fashion Parade on Saturday, May 4, at the Umina Beach CWA Hall commencing at 2pm.
