Full contract for exciting young talent

Peta Trimis

Central Coast Mariners has upgraded 17-year-old Peta Trimis from a scholarship to a full Liberty A-League contract.

Joining the club for its return to the competition this season, the Young Matilda arrived having been named in the NPL NSW First Grade Team of the Season.

Trimis made her debut off the bench against Newcastle in the first round of the season, looking dangerous from the moment she entered the game.

The 17-year-old followed this up with her starting debut in the historic 2-1 win away from home to Adelaide United, becoming a mainstay in the 16-player match day squads this season.

The forward scored her first Liberty A-League goal in round nine against Canberra United, the match sealer in the 3-0 win, before scoring a match-winning goal against Wellington last weekend.

An exciting talent with all the tools and skills to take her to the very top, Trimis has been rewarded for her strong form with the contract upgrade.

Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Emily Husband said she was pleased to be able to upgrade Trimis’ deal and excited to continue to help her develop as a footballer.

“It is fantastic to be able to upgrade Peta’s contract,” Husband said.

“She came in at the start of the season as a young scholarship holder and has exceeded expectations.

“Every week she is learning more and more and progressing.

“It felt right to push her into a full-time contract, and she is a player that we see as an important part of the club and want to keep hold of.”

After her strong start to the campaign, Trimis said she was pleased to have had her contract upgraded, stating her love for the club and her excitement to continue to develop as a player on the Central Coast.

“I am extremely pleased to have been awarded with my first professional contract, I love this club and I’m just happy to be here on the Central Coast,” she said.

“Joining the Mariners at the beginning of the season for my first year in the Liberty A-League competition, I have felt right at home with Emily and the team.

“I look forward to continuing to give everything I can on the pitch for the Mariners.”
