Putting Putty Beach back into shape

Erosion repair work underway

Erosion repair work at Putty Beach is now complete, giving the Bouddi National Park gem a much-needed transformation.

The sand dunes eroded after a long period of rain and coastal storms last year and the lagoon was clogged with debris.

The important buffer from coastal hazards has been restored, with a massive 30 tonnes of debris removed from the area, dune fencing and matting installed, the carpark stormwater outlets cleared, and 1,000 plants put in to stabilise the dune.

It was large-scale work needed to get this coastal environment back in good form and National Parks and Wildlife Service is urging visitors to Bouddi National park toavoid the dunes to help keep the beach at its best.
