Double demerits in force until New Year’s Day

Police will be out in force on Coast roads until January 1

Police are urging Coasties to come up with a Plan B for getting home as they plan New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The Double Demerit period which began on December 22 continues through until midnight on January 1.

Police are urging residents to drive safely to wherever they are travelling, drive to the conditions and be courteous to other road users.

Double demerit points will apply for speeding, illegal use of mobile phones, not wearing a seat belt and riding without a motorcycle helmet.

Keep in mind that Mobile Phone Detection Cameras are active in NSW and drivers caught using their phones during a double demerit period will be hit with a $352 fine and 10 demerits.
