Coast FM gives out community awards

The award recipients

Community radio station Coast FM 963 has awarded $13,500 to six local not-for-profit organisations as part of its recent round of Community Awards.

Generous sponsors have allowed Coast FM to support the local community and this has been very much appreciated by the radio station, Community Awards co-ordinator Lance Godwin said.

He said the applications were of a high standard and it was difficult for the committee to decide who the recipients would be.

Successful applicants included Special Olympics Central Coast, Coastal a Cappella, Youth in Performing Arts (YIPA), We Care Connect, Woy Woy Peninsula Community Garden and Central Coast Kids Day Out.

A special encouragement award of $1,000 was also given to aspiring elite athlete Gabrielle Arps, who is on track to represent Australia in ice hockey.

At a time of rising costs, all Community Award recipients were extremely grateful for the Coast FM initiative.
