Patonga fire burns six hectares

Bushland alight behind houses

Crews were on the ground from late afternoon on Sunday, September 24, and throughout Monday fighting a bushfire which had spread over six hectares at Little Wobby near Patonga.

With access to the area only possible via the water, fire crews from the Central Coast Rural Fire Service and Brooklyn Rural Fire Brigade headed over to the peninsula between Brooklyn and Patonga by boat.

The fire was burning in very difficult terrain and all firefighting operations were undertaken by ground crews with support from fire boats and a water-bombing helicopter, working overnight to control the fire.

Firefighters continued working to strengthen containment lines for the Little Wobby fire.
