New extensions for East Gosford Lions hall

Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch celebrates the extensions with Lions club members

New extensions to the Lions Hall at East Gosford were officially opened on September 12 by Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch.

A spokesperson said the extensions were funded through a $32,000 State Government grant, with the club contributing a further $3,500.

“Our hall has a large regular list of hirers and the Makers Studio, the Art Class and the Ukelele Club (previously) would need to visit our restrooms situated in the main hall,” he said.

“As such, there would be regular hirers already in the main hall who would be interrupted by the other hirers as they walked through.

“Our Grants Officer, Lion Glenn Tritton, contacted Liesl to see if there were any grants available relevant to our need to resolve this problem.

“As our hall provides around 70 per cent of our funds to needy Central Coast projects each year, Liesl confirmed that it satisfied the objectives for the Community Grant.

“The hirers in the back of the hall now have their own restrooms, toilets, shower and wash facilities needed especially for the Art and Makers Clubs.

“The need for them to use the main hall now has been removed and the additions add to the suitability of the hall for many more different hirers.

“It is totally disability friendly, including the toilet area.”
