The Australian Reptile Park has had a bumper year of new arrivals this year, with two eastern grey kangaroo joeys, named TayTay and Swifty, being the latest bouncing bundles of joy to make their entrance.

The pair has been so named by keepers due to excitement buzzing around the mammals team this week after Taylor Swift announced her Australian tour.

As they continue to find their footing, the joeys are still in the early stages of exploring.

In coming weeks, they will gradually gain confidence and begin to bound around and explore the Australian Reptile Park.

For now, the joeys are remaining close to mum’s side but as they get older, will begin to venture further away with other kangaroos.

Park Director Tim Faulkner said there was nothing cuter than the first wobbly hops of roo joeys.

“From looking at the rest of the female kangaroos in our eastern grey and Kangaroo Island kangaroo populations, there are a few big pouches out there so it won’t be too long before we start seeing more heads and feet popping out of mum’s pouch,” he said.

Eastern grey kangaroos are native to the eastern regions of Australia and known for their distinctive grey fur, powerful hind legs and adorable faces.

As marsupials, they spend their early months of life safely nestled in their mother’s pouch, gradually exploring the world outside as they grow.
