Two children injured in Umina Beach road incident

Two children have been taken to hospital after being hit by a 4WD at Umina Beach in the early evening on February 17.

Just after 7pm emergency services were called to the intersection of Sydney Ave and Ocean Beach Rd, following reports a 4WD and a pushbike had collided.

A 12-year-old boy – who was being carried on the handlebars – sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted to the Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The rider – an 11-year-old boy – sustained leg injuries and is in a stable condition in Gosford Hospital.

Neither child was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the 4WD – a 59-year-old woman – was not injured and was taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Brisbane Water Police District established a crime scene and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.
