Mariners’ marvellous momentum to continue on Sunday

Mariners Head Coach Nick Montgomory is as proud as punch with his team.

This Sunday’s game at Central Coast Stadium where the Central Coast Mariners take on Macarthur FC is shaping up to be a real celebration on many levels.

The Mariners are on a remarkable upward ascent in the national ISUZU-Ute A-league competition with a decisive win against Western Sydney Wanderers away last weekend. The win catapulted the team to a fourth spot on the ladder and with so many goals scored the team is looking dangerous.

The recent victories seem to be a reflection of a club culture that has changed for the better.

This week the whole club was elated as three players were selected for the upcoming Socceroos World Cup squad in Qatar starting later this month.

Coach Nick Montgomery was as proud as a father after finding out Garang Kuol, Jason Cummings and Danny Vukovic’s selection in the Socceroos squad was real.

“Everyone knows the club has been through some tough times in the past 10 years, since the last championship really,” Montgomery said.

“To have three boys, the first A-league club to have three players chosen to go to a world cup squad, is something we’re really proud of as a club.”

Monty is now urging fans and supporters to come to Sunday’s game and help send off our local heroes to the international stage.
