Afghan war correspondents in conversation at Gallery

Andrew Quilty in Kabul, Afghanistan on March 23, 2017.

Two of Australia’s most experienced war correspondents will be in conversation at Gosford Regional Gallery on Wednesday, November 23 as part of the Words on the Waves Writers Festival author satellite events.

Andrew Quilty was one of only a few Western journalists who stayed in Kabul when America departed and the Taliban arrived at the city gates.

Quilty has collected a truly remarkable array of first-hand accounts in his new book.

Attendees will hear first-hand about the historic moment the Afghanistan capital fell to the Taliban as Quilty discusses his recently published book August in Kabul.

Quilty will be in conversation with investigative reporter Chris Masters whose book No Front Line: Australian Special Forces at war in Afghanistan is a similarly crucial account of this devasting war.

Words on the Waves is a locally based volunteer organisation that aims to increase the creative culture of the Central Coast community.
