Neighbourhood Service needs donations and volunteers

Woy Woy Peninsula Neighbourhood Service has a new laptop, office shredder and dryer thanks to $4,500 in funding from the Federal Government’s 2021-22 Volunteer Grants program.

Member for Robertson, Gordon Reid, recently met with volunteers to learn more about the services they provides.

“The Woy Woy Neighbourhood Service is doing a tremendous job assisting and caring for elderly and vulnerable residents across the Central Coast,” he said.

“The funding it has received will go to bolstering the organisation’s efforts in helping more people go about their day-to-day tasks.

“It was a pleasure meeting with several of the organisation’s volunteers including President, Ian Taylor, Treasurer, Colleen Garland, and Transport Officer, Wendy Heath, who all do a phenomenal job ensuring residents who require their services are well looked after.”

The range of services provided include medical transport, shopping, and laundry assistance.

President, Ian Taylor, said residents support the organisation’s services by making donations.

“Residents can donate items (which) are sold with proceeds helping fund the services we provide to the community,’ he said.

“We are always looking for clothing, shoes, and bric-a-brac donations.

“We are also putting a call out to the community for volunteers who would like to get involved and help make a difference in the lives of elderly and vulnerable people.”
