Ettalong picnic to welcome spring

The event will be held on the Ettalong foreshore near the Vietnam war memorial

The I love Ettalong Beach group will host a Welcome to Spring event on the Ettalong foreshore on September 11 at 4pm.

Organiser Shery Stinton said all are welcome to bring drinks and a picnic to the area under the port Jackson fig tree at the Vietnam memorial.

“Anyone is welcome to come along and invigorate our community,” she said.

“After this long dark winter we need something to put a smile on our faces.”

Stinton said the event also aimed to highlight I Love Ettalong’s campaign to see solar fairy lights installed in several trees on the waterfront before summer.

The waterfront will be further enhanced when the Zona Club of Central Coast, with the support of CWA Woy Woy, Soroptimist Central Coast and Kamira, installs a stunning yarn bomb display at Ettalong on November 18.

Eleven trees on the Ettalong foreshore will be decorated, along with 11 in the Fisherman’s Wharf/Memorial Park area at Woy Woy.

Businesses and organisations are invited to participate in the yarn bomb.

“It would be wonderful for your group to dress a tree,” a Zonta spokesperson said.

“We have all the advice , knitting patterns etc you need and we also provide inspirational signage per tree, acknowledging the group that sponsored the tree.

“Alternately, you could provide financial sponsorship (tax deductible) to help with the production of educational signage and installation costs.
