Ausgrid warning to livestock owners

Ausgrid helicoptersAusgrid will be using helicopters to survey power lines across the Central Coast.

Ausgrid is warning the public of the imminent use of low-flying helicopters to inspect overhead powerlines across parts of the Central Coast.

Helicopter patrols will fly low over poles from Tuesday, August 31 until Friday, September 2 between 7.30 am and 5 pm.

The helicopters & drones need to fly low at times, which may startle livestock in rural areas, so property owners may want to consider securing livestock during the patrols.

The Central Coast areas designated by Ausgrid to be in the inspection scheme are:

  • Calga
  • Kariong
  • Mooney Mooney Creek
  • Mount White
  • Somersby
  • Narara
  • West Gosford
  • Alison
  • Berkeley Vale
  • Fountaindale
  • Jilliby
  • Kangy Angy
  • Mandalong
  • Mannering Park
  • Mardi
  • Morisset
  • Ourimbah
  • Tuggerah
  • Wyee
  • Wyee Point

Aerial patrols are a central part of Ausgrid’s bushfire management program. Through the patrols, we inspect pole tops and vegetation within the Ausgrid network to identify defects and inform our maintenance program.

The work crews will use an infrared camera to help identify potential defects on our network infrastructure.
