Man and woman arrested in Kariong after shooting

A man and a woman were arrested following a vehicle stop at Kariong on July 8, as part of an ongoing investigation into a shooting in Sydney’s east.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Marine Pde, Maroubra, at about 9.15pm on July 4, after reports a man had been shot.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 37-year-old man, before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, officers from the Tactical Operations Unit arrested two people during a vehicle stop on the Central Coast Highway at Kariong, just before 1.30pm on July 8.

A man and woman – aged 27 and 28 – were taken to Gosford Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing.
