ATHLETICS –

Students from Brisbane Water Secondary College’s Umina and Woy Woy campus have helped break a 20-year drought, taking home gold in the Zone Athletics carnival at Mingara Athletics Centre on June 21.

It was the first time in 20 years that Gosford High School didn’t dominate the competition, with students from both Brisbane Water campus’ achieving record scores on the day.

Twelve students from the Woy Woy campus, and 16 from Umina progressed in their individual events to represent the College at the Sydney North Athletics competition on July 19 to 20, at Sydney Olympic Park.

Principal of BWSC Umina, Kerrie O’Heir said the College was proud of the students’ performance on the day.

“We have many students who are performing at elite levels in a variety of sports, both individual and team,” O’Heir said.

“I’m always proud of how all our students enthusiastically congratulate those students who achieve.”
