Today Saturday June 26, 2021 stay-at-home orders will apply to all people in Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Wollongong from 6pm today until 11.59pm Friday July 9 said a joint statement from the Premier and Health Minister.

Chief Health Officer for NSW Dr Kerry Chant spelt out the growing risk to the community in a media statement explaining the necessity for the extensive measures.

As a result everyone in Greater Sydney, that includes the Central Coast must stay at home unless it is for an essential reason.

The reasons you may leave your home include:

  • Shopping for food or other essential goods and services;
  • Medical care or compassionate needs (people can leave home to have a COVID-19 vaccination unless you have been identified as a close contact);
  • Exercise outdoors in groups of 10 or fewer;
  • Essential work, or education, where you cannot work or study from home.

No weddings or sport

Community sport will not be permitted during this period. Weddings will not be permitted from 11.59pm, Sunday 27 June.

Funerals will be limited to one person per four square metres with a cap of 100 people, and masks must be worn indoors.

MPs urge people to cooperate

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Adam Crouch MP has stated on his Facebook page this afternoon, ‘Our Premier has said that the current situation is the “scariest time” since the COVID-19 pandemic began, which is why this lockdown is necessary.

This is a difficult time for everyone, however we need to take these steps now to get on top of this outbreak.’

Shadow Minister for the Central Coast David Harris MP has said “Unfortunately due to the continued spread of the Delta variant a two week lock down has been ordered

I urge people to adhere to the restrictions so we can get on top of this outbreak as soon as possible”
