The Palm Beach to Ettalong and Wagstaffe Ferry will continue to run on schedule despite calls from some residents to suspend the service during the Northern Beaches COVID-19 cluster period.
Central Coast Newspapers spoke via a teleconference with NRMA’s media spokesperson, Peter Khoury, about the ferry service during the pandemic period. The service did carry two Central Coast residents who were later identified to have tested positive to COVID-19.
The Fantasea ferry service is now owned and managed by the NRMA under an arrangement with Transport for NSW as a public transport service.
When asked about calls to cancel the ferry service Mr Khory said that they were obliged to keep it running as an essential public transport stating only the State Government can cancel the operation of essential transport routes.
