The Troubadour Folk Club will hold a free open-air concert at Hardys Bay Club on Sunday, August 9.
Club president Mr Michael Fine said the concert from 1pm to 4pm was a great opportunity for all Troubadour regulars to get up on stage and show what they’ve been working on.
“The aim is to make the music and verse come alive once again, bringing people together to share the joy of great music and giving our amazing members and other proven performers and aspiring stars the opportunity to get on stage and perform,” Mr Fine said.
He said social distancing and hygiene rules will be practised and, if there were any concerns or a change in circumstances, the concert would move online. Mr Fine said that, while the club had not been holding live performances, Troubadour performers had held regular music with performances recorded and uploaded on to the club’s website for fans to watch and enjoy from home.
The club also organised live online concerts with some of Australia’s best folk musicians, with ticket sales helping to pay performers who were unable to earn an income during the lockdown. Troubalukers, the ukulele group which regularly performs in nursing homes and on the big stage at Troubadour concerts, practised each week in Peninsula Community Garden in Woy Woy.
