Police have charged a man after a serious assault outside a shopping centre at Gosford.
At about 8pm on Tuesday, November 6, a 57-year-old man and a 20-year-old man had a verbal exchange inside the Imperial Shopping Centre on Erina St.
The younger man left the premises, he remained outside, when a short time later, the older man also left the shopping centre.
It is believed the two men became involved in a physical altercation. The younger man allegedly assaulted the older man, after which he collapsed, hitting his head on the footpath and was unconscious. Witnesses detained the younger man until the arrival of officers from Brisbane Water Police District, who were nearby. A crime scene was established and the 20-year old man was arrested. The injured man was treated at the scene and conveyed to Gosford Hospital, and then transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition. The 20-year-old man was later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and recklessly cause grievous bodily harm.
