More money to be spent on Gosford CBD

Letters to the editorLetters to the editor

I refer to Minister Roberts’ recent fanfare announcement that $42m was earmarked by the NSW Government to fund infrastructure, such as water and sewer, in Gosford City centre.
I have examined the detail of many DAs approved by both the former Gosford Council and the current Central Coast Council.
I have also addressed several JRPP hearings in respect of various developments.
I do not recall any report from Council suggesting that the CBD water or sewage infrastructure was inadequate to service the DA under discussion.
Much brouhaha was made by the announcement of a mere $42m State Government assistance which is unlikely to make any significant difference in a projected $2b water and sewer upgrade flagged for the Gosford City Centre in Council’s Service Delivery, Operational Plan 2018-2019.
Well may former Wyong Shire ratepayers lament that yet more money is being spent in the former Gosford LGA, clearly subsidised by the 6.9% SRV rates increases to be paid by Wyong, but not by Gosford, ratepayers.
Maybe Clr Greg Best could enlighten us as to why he and his colleagues thought amalgamation was such a good idea.
