New red lid waste bins being delivered

New red lid waste bins will be delivered to 58,000 properties across the southern end of the Central Coast.

Waste services contractor, Cleanaway, and bin manufacturer, SULO, were to begin delivering the new bins from Thursday, May 10, and the process is expected to take 10 weeks to complete.

All residential properties in the former Gosford Council area with a smaller 120 litre red lid waste bin will receive a new 140 litre red lid waste bin, bringing them into alignment with the former Wyong Local Government area bins. All 120 litre bins will be replaced, regardless of their current age or condition. Residents can expect their new bins to arrive two business days prior to their current bin collection day and before the old bins are removed. Old bins will be recycled by SULO’s sister company, Astron Plastics. Material recovered from recycled bins remains the property of SULO and will be used to manufacture new bins. Residents are asked to follow some simple steps once they have received their new bin.

Only 140 litre red lid waste bins with the new logo will be emptied after the rollout is complete.

Remove the new bin from the kerbside and secure it on their property, ensuring to check the address on the side of the bin matches their property. Place all old 120 litre bins out for service on the next bin night, even if they are empty. Leave old bins out on the kerbside after they have been emptied. Do not place waste in old bins once they have been emptied, as, over the next few days, a truck will remove the old bins. Start using the new bins once the old bins have been emptied. Do not keep the old bins as spares or for excess waste.
