Gosford City Car Park adjacent to Gosford Station needs its operations reformed. Closing the car park between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am the next morning is a gross underutilisation of a valuable council asset.
If you do leave your car parked overnight you cop a hefty $40 parking fee. In the 21st century, it seems very inefficient to employ a parking attendant to collect parking fees. Why not install coin and credit card operated gates and keep the park open 24 hours a day, seven days a week? Doing so would create more council revenue and give better service to residents. If North Sydney Council can do it why not Central Coast Council? There must be many retirees and others who travel to Sydney from Gosford, for mid-morning, afternoon and evening functions and need to park near the station. At present, they can’t use the car park if they are likely to return after 8:00 pm. Please note that the commuter car park on the west side of the station is not a viable alternative, because it is usually completely full of commuters’ cars by the time a person wants to park there after 8:30 am in the morning.
