Here’s an interesting flashback from four years ago when the then Member for Gosford, Mr Chris Holstein, said: “The minister has listened to the community.
“This is great news for Gosford and great news for the revitalisation of Gosford,” he said of the ‘My City, My Destiny’ masterplan. “What you have delivered Minister is outstanding, we can go forward and revitalise the waterfront and revitalise Gosford,” Mr Holstein said. Ummm! No, the minister and the local member didn’t listen to over 10,000 people who were against the removal of the Gosford Public School from its waterfront site.
The rezoning approval that Mr Holstein was talking about applied to the area bounded by Georgina Tce, Dane Dve, Mann St and Brisbane Water, and included the Gosford Public School site, Gosford City Park and the Gosford breakwater. Mr Holstein said: “It allows the old school site to be developed resulting in a mix of commercial, residential, hotel and conference facilities, creating an estimated 1,200 to 2,000 new jobs.” Where are all those jobs, residential apartments, mixed-use business and conference facilities? What do we have on the school site now? A tax office with a nonactive street frontage and a government finance building.
