The Wallarah 2 Coal Project is helping Toukley Preschool Kindergarten in their “Kids Being Water Wise” project, with a community foundation grant to purchase and install a new 5,000 litre rainwater tank.
Toukley Preschool is a not for profit educational centre, caring for 80 children, aged 3-6 years, each week.
The preschool has been established for over 50 years, and currently employs 13 educators.
A committee, consisting of parents and community members, oversees the management of the preschool, in consultation with the Centre Director, Ms Dianne Rayner.
“Our preschool is thrilled to receive this grant from Wallarah 2, which will allow us to install a new 5,000L rainwater tank, to provide water for our staff toilets and to use for water play, and watering gardens in our backyard,” said Ms Rayner.
“Our current water tank is old and small.
“The children love to play with water and we would like to continue offering them this activity.
“Adding the tank to our toilet facilities also reduces our water usage.
“It is also envisaged that the tank would be used in the future to service the children’s’ toilets as well, as money becomes available.
“This is not the first time that Wallarah 2 have helped our Preschool with a Community Foundation Grant, in fact the children are still using the iPads that were purchased with grant proceeds two years ago, and we are very fortunate to, once again, receive funding through the program this year,” Ms Rayner concluded.
