Two students from the Central Coast Conservatorium participated in the Regional Youth Orchestra (RYO) Lismore camp and concert in November.
Representing Central Coast Conservatorium were 18-year-old trombonist, Riley Smith, and 14 year-old flutist, Sophie Kelly.
“Northern Rivers Conservatorium was thrilled to host RYO NSW in Lismore for a four-day music camp, ending with a wonderful free concert for all of Lismore to enjoy,” said Ms Anita Bellman, Director of Northern Rivers Conservatorium.
“We had young musicians coming from Dubbo in the Central West, Wagga and Albury south, and more from Armidale, Tamworth, Coffs Harbour, Goulburn, Bathurst, Orange, Wollongong and the Upper Hunter, as well as our own Conservatorium students from Lismore, and of course, Riley and Sophie from the Central Coast,” Ms Bellman added.
The regional music students range in age from 11 to 18 years, and are all members of RYO, an auditioned orchestra of talented young musicians from NSW Regional Conservatoriums, a network of 17 regional music schools funded by the NSW Government, through the Department of Education, to provide high quality music education in regional areas.
