The Gosford Waterfront Alliance (GWA) welcomed the development of a State Finance Office for Gosford, but remained extremely disappointed that the NSW Government went for the quick and easy option of putting it on the iconic waterfront, rather than in the CBD.
“News that the entire site has been sold is in keeping with the poor process and total lack of transparency around this entire development,” said GWA President, Ms Claire Braund.
“At the very least, the community expects full disclosure from the NSW Government on how much it sold each portion of the former school site for and who the new owners are,” she said.
“Sadly, we had a once-in-a-lifetime chance to plan something amazing for this site, and once again, Council blew it.
“The question remains, what now?
“Clearly we need to revisit the 2010 Masterplan and look at how it needs to be adapted for 2017.
“Integration with plans from people such as ADG architect, Anthony Kelly, who has been very pro-active and transparent in putting forward a vision for Gosford and sought community views from many groups, need to be considered.
“The new Council needs to revisit the brilliant process used to build the 2010 Masterplan and massively improve its community engagement and consultation processes.
“Only real and truthful consultation with a broad cross section of people, not just hand-picked stakeholders, will result in a vision we can all own, endorse and be proud of.
“The GWA is speaking with a range of stakeholders and political representatives, in particular in relation to the Council plan to build a utilitarian Performing Arts and Conference Centre (PAC) on Leagues Club Field.
“We believe the idea lacks vision or scope and will attract significant opposition from the community and other stakeholders.
“Now is the time to unite behind a common vision and work for a PAC that becomes a beacon for our region.
