There are an estimated 3,700 people living with dementia in the Gosford and Terrigal state electorates, according to a new report released by Alzheimer’s Australia on February 15.
The report, which detailed the economic cost of dementia in Australia, estimates there are 1,856 people living with dementia in the Gosford electorate, ranking 11th out of the 93 state electoral districts.
The Terrigal electorate did not fare much better with an estimated 1,819 people living with dementia, ranking 14th in the State.
According to the report, the total number of people living with dementia in the Gosford and Terrigal state electorates is expected to increase to an estimated 4,650 people by 2025 and 8,200 by 2056.
Dementia is estimated to cost Australia $14.67 billion in 2017, with research predicting this figure to climb by another $4 billion in eight years as the number of people living with the condition continues to rise.
