Skills sharing with students encouraged

Somersby Public School has extended a welcome to any parents, grandparents or family members who have an interest or skills in a particular area that they could share with the students.

Ms Margaret Smith, grandmother of students William and Maggie, has offered her services by going into the school on Monday afternoons to take singing lessons with the choir students.

Somersby Public School teacher Mr Neil Mitchell said: “We are very fortunate to have the services of Ms Smith as she has a wealth of experience working with young children.”

Furthermore, the school is keen to hear from any other family members who would like to work with a group of students one lunch time per week.

The school is particularly looking for an interested gardener who would like to help re-establish the overgrown gardens in the school grounds.
