Isacc Warner, the man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, has been granted bail.
The 23-year-old of Tumbi Umbi, appeared before Wyong Local Court for a committal hearing on Wednesday, January 27, after he was arrested and charged following an investigation by the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.
He is charged with having sexual intercourse with a child, intentionally sexually touching a child and intentionally inciting a child to perform a sexual act, with police alleging in court that the alleged sexual assault occurred during a visit to the girl’s family home on Sunday, January 24.
Warner’s Legal Aid solicitor told the court that his client was an active member of the local indigenous community who lived with ADHD and other mental health issues before making it clear that he intended to plead not guilty to all charges.
Warner was then granted bail under the conditions that he report to police, reside with his father, not own a mobile phone and not have any contact with the alleged victim or prosecution witnesses.
The case will return to court on Tuesday, February 16.
