[Terrigal] Six Central Coast seniors have had their stories included in the annual compilation, Seniors’ Stories, now available online and at the region’s libraries.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal, Adam Crouch, said 100 seniors statewide shared stories of tragedy and triumph in the fifth volume of the series, an initiative of NSW Seniors Card.
The compilation of essays and short stories has the theme, “love of your life”.
“I would encourage everyone to grab a copy of the book at a local library or online,” Crouch said.
“Central Coast seniors have many amazing experiences to share and it is fantastic to read them through the Seniors’ Stories book.”
The six Central Coast residents to be included in Volume 5 are:
- Sheila Drakeley, Umina Beach;
- Nola Foster, Terrigal;
- Anne Nielsen, Kincumber;
- Bob Pierse, Holgate;
- Heidrun Rodach, Erina;
- Vivien Sale, Kincumber.
Minister for Seniors, Geoff Lee, said the State Government introduced the series in 2013 as a way of recognising and valuing the experiences of seniors.
“This book provides an opportunity for seniors to participate in the community, showcase their skills and share their wisdom with younger generations,” Lee said.
“These authors are breaking down ageist stereotypes and connecting with others through their own experiences.
“It is a great read that gives a compelling insight into the lives of seniors.”
