Ivona Rose to feature on Sounds of the Coast

Ivona Rose

Ivona Rose is ready to take to the airwaves on Coast FM’s Sounds of the Coast.

Originally from Krakow Poland, Rose migrated to Australia as a political refugee and now calls the Central Coast her home.

Though English is her second language, she swiftly picked up music from a young age, playing the flute and clarinet in primary school shows and at local Carols by Candlelight productions.

The self-taught singer and songwriter is a multifaceted performer known for switching between a range of instruments in her shows.

After years of piano studies at the Australian Institute of Music and vocal guidance from jazz singer Lilly Dior, her roots in country folk led her to the string family.

It was not long until the autoharp became her signature instrument.

Under the influence of Mother Mabelle Carter’s autoharp style, she mastered the art of hypnotic dynamism.

Her unique style was put on display in her 2018 debut album So Modern.

The collection, featuring 10 carefully crafted tracks, received nationwide airplay on radio stations like ABC and 2SER.

Rose has performed at notable events like the Tamworth Country Music Festival and Peats Ridge Music Festival.

In 2012, she won the Songs on Stage Songwriters and Performers award.

With the prize money, she recorded her single Hoopla, which landed her as a finalist in the 2013 Music Oz Awards.

Rose is also a yoga enthusiast and enjoys teaching family yoga classes so parents and children can learn together.

She will perform live from noon-8pm on April 27 at Terrigal Esplanade.

Rose said she will be playing a mix of her own best hits and covers pf classic songwriting masters such as Joni Mitchell and Dolly Parton.

Listen out for a special surprise as she will also be playing a song dating back to the 1800s.

“When music has that much history, having passed through many hands, carrying different meanings to audiences, it gives me goosebumps” she said.
