Calling all aspiring young authors.
Central Coast children’s book author Rebecca J. Chaney will be at Lake Haven Library from 10.30am-11.30am on Wednesday, April 16, to talk about her globally successful adventure novel, Stu and the Sketchy Time Stops.
She will also run a free interactive creative writing workshop where budding young authors create their own adventure story.
During the workshop, Chaney will talk about the three key ingredients all adventure stories should have, using her own novel as an example.
Participants will then work on their own story, and can ask Rebecca anything about her book, writing, and life as an author.
Copies of Stu and the Sketchy Time Stops will also be available for purchase at the event, and there will be an opportunity for photos and book signings after the workshop.
Stu and the Sketchy Time Stops is a heartwarming and hilarious middle grade adventure about taking a chance on friendship while taking on time-stopping casino thieves.
It was the first children’s book shortlisted for the Newcastle Writers Festival Fresh Ink Emerging Writers Prize and received an Honourable Mention in the 2024 Kids’ Choice Kidlit Writing Contest – a global competition where books for young readers are judged solely by young readers.
You can book for the event by contacting Lake Haven Library on 4350 1570, and find out more about Chaney and her writing at rebeccajchaney.com
Stu and the Sketchy Time Stops is available for purchase at Book Face Erina Fair and on Amazon.
