Art House Summer program has something for everyone

The Necks

January 18 will be a busy day at The Art House with two incredible shows featuring jazz and cabaret, drag and variety performances.

Revered Australian jazz trio The Necks, are back in the country following their European tour and to celebrate their newest album release, Bleed, will perform at The Art House Studio as part of their regional tour.

The Art House has received requests for more jazz artists, and who better than The Necks, who have been hailed as “among the world’s greatest forces in music” by the LA Times, and “the greatest trio on earth” by The New York Times.

In the intimate studio space of The Art House, their 20th studio album, Bleed, will be experienced as an immersive soundscape.

Famous for their live sets, The Necks play with no rehearsal, no set lists, no expectations and absolutely no requests, revered for their ability to improvise their entire set, by trusting and listening to each other play.

This is the true definition of a jam session, where each performance is a spontaneous creation, making every live show a completely unique experience.

Certainly not just for jazz lovers by any means, The Necks are extremely talented musicians, and their live performances are truly not to be missed.

As part of The Summer@ The Art House program, The Necks are just one of many amazing shows to catch this January and February.

Bangers & Mash will perform at 8pm in The Art House auditorium on the same night.

The Summer@ The Art House program brings Catherine Alcorn back to The Art House stage with her new show, straight from Sydney Fringe, Bangers & Mash.

With special guests Verushka Darling and Jean Kittson, audiences are in for big hair, big laughs and big hits in a night of top-quality live entertainment.

Cultural Binge reported that Bangers & Mash dishes up a “bag of mixed sweets that keeps you on your toes between the familiar tunes that get the whole room singing along and the totally unexpected laughs”.

Audiences will remember Alcorn from the international cabaret hit The Divine Miss Bette during the 2024 Summer@ The Art House program.

This year, with this brand new, fabulous variety show, Alcorn will be joined on stage by Sydney drag legend, Verushka Darling and comedian TV personality Jean Kittson.

Together the trio will chaperone audiences through a degustation of delightfully home-cooked variety entertainment.
