We continue our series of month-by-month reviews of the major regional news of 2024 as reported in Coast Community News.

A unique cloud formation over the Central Coast had people guessing.

A petition was launched calling for a pedestrian crossing on Wilfred Barrett Dr at Magenta Shores and Peninsula Chamber of Commerce ramped up calls for work to be done on the Rawson Rd railway crossing.

Employees at the Greyhound Racing NSW facility at Wyee were shocked when the adoption kennel was repurposed at short notice and it was announced that construction would recommence on the Central Coast Quarter development in Gosford following its acquisition by Urban Property Group.

Coasties named in the King‘s Birthday honours list were recognised and the NSW Urban Development Institute of Australia announced medium density housing targets around railway stations on the Central Coast were not feasible.

There were calls for Forestry NSW to hand management of Ourimbah State Forest over to the community, amid claims of dangerous vegetation buildup.

Concerns were raised over plans to redevelop the Oasis caravan park at Kanwal to create 675 units in a series of buildings up to 12 storeys high.

Kayakers flocked to Brisbane Water to take part in the Winter with a Marathon race organised by Brisbane Water Paddlers.

The Woy Woy hotel, affectionately known as the Old Pub, was set to close for three-four months for a major revamp and PM Anthony Albanese popped by to deliver on infrastructure funding for the Kincumber Soccer Club.

Residents of the Oasis Caravan Park gathered to write submissions opposing the proposed redevelopment of the site.

There were mixed reactions to the state budget with Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch saying it would get the state back on track and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch saying the government had abandoned the people of the Central Coast during the cost of living crisis.

It was announced that Gosford Bowling Club would host the NSW/ACT Blind Bowlers Championships in September and cyclists geared up for the Tour de Central Coast, to be run in sync with the Tour de France from June 29.

Residents learned that Council rates would rise by 4.8 per cent from July 1 and there was a push to encourage women to run for Council at the September local government elections.

Retire Australia announced it would complete 42 independent living apartments at Tarragal Glen retirement village at Erina despite the building company entering into voluntary administration
