Man arrested over Gosford bombings and fire

A man was arrested on Friday, December 6, as an investigation continues into several explosions and a fire in Gosford on Thursday afternoon, December 5.

At about 2.20pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to an office building on Donnison St following reports of several explosions.

The building was evacuated and no injuries were reported as a result of the explosions.

A short time later, police were called to a separate office building on Donnison and Baker Sts following reports of a fire.

At the scene, police were told that a man entered the office before allegedly lighting a fire before leaving the scene.

A 54-year-old employee was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation.

No other injuries were reported.

Police from Brisbane Water Police District – assisted by specialist resources – established several crime scenes and conducted inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Granollers.

Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a man at a home in Wallarah at about 1.30pm on Friday.

The 66-year-old man was taken to Wyong Police Station.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on December 7.
